Musee Chopin (Chopin Museum) in Paris – Our Visit April 30 2018

We just visited this small museum, unknown for most people, located right at the heart of Paris, France. Musee Chopin is a 1-room museum inside the Societé Historique et Litteraire Polonaise in the Ile de Saint-Louis, in central Paris.

This small but very interesting museum displays a piano apparently used by Chopin, some personal effects, his funerary mask, a copy in cast of his hand, facsimiles of letters and documents related to him and some prints and memorabilia connected to him and his life.

Founded in 1832, the Societé Historique had Chopin himself as a member, and moved to the current location just 5 years after the famous Polish composer´s death.  Here are some photographs we took of the exhibits, which will certainly give you an idea. A fascinating experience for any music lover visiting Paris!

We recommend you take a look at our Chopin autograph document (a contract signed by Chopin in 1840), selling the rights to publish his "Funeral" Sonata and other works in the United Kingdom:
