Italian opera composer (1863-1945), mostly remembered today for his operas "Cavalleria Rusticana" and "L'Amico Fritz" among other creations. Autograph music quote on an album page signed by the composer with 4 bars from his opera "Iris", dated in Palermo in 1920.  Size is 4.75 x 6.75 inches, in excellent condition. Also included: 1 unsigned postcard photograph of the composer, 3.25 x 5.25 inches, small crease on top right, otherwise in excellent condition. Not sold separately. 

French opera composer (1842-1912), one of the greatest creators of operas of his time. Autograph letter in French signed by him, dated March 10, 1899, addressed to a gentleman about an appointment and professional matters. Size is 4.5 x 6.9 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet, soft creases, folds, and some stains, in overall very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED IS his personal card signed by him with a short sentiment.

Autograph note signed, in French, sold untranslated, matted with a vintage photo postcard of a portrait of the composer. Total mat size is 8 x 12 inches, note is 3.9 x 2.25 inches (in slightly larger window), photo postcard is 3.2 x 5.1 inches (visible window size), in excellent condition.

French composer (1842-1912), best known for his operas, of which he wrote more than thirty. Large-sized autograph music quote with his image at the top, signed by the composer with 6 bars from his opera "Werther", dated 1909.  Size is 6.3 x 20.2 inches, central fold, dirt, some rust stains, minor cracks, in overall good condition.

French opera composer (1842-1912), one of the greatest creators of operas of his time. Piece of paper written and signed by the star composer about giving two free seats for the first performance of his opera "Sapho" at the Opéra-Comique, dated by him in November 1897 (probably for the world premiere held on November 27 that year).  Size is 7.1 x 4.6 inches, irregularly cut, in very good condition. A very rare, interesting collectible Item!

American composer and pianist (b.1949). Printed score for the song "A Whole New World", from Disney's film "Aladdin" (1992), signed by Menken on the front cover. Size is  9 x 12 inches, 8 pages, in excellent condition.

Italian-American composer and librettist (1911-2007) and American soprano (1929-2007).  Page copy of a fragment from Act III Scene 1 of the opera "Juana La Loca", signed on the first page by both the composer and the soprano.  Also, a facsimile signature of the composer can be found over the upper-right corner of the first page.  Size is 9.75 x 13 inches, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an unsigned photo of the soprano as Juana La Loca, a role she created at San Diego, 1979, plus a ticket stub for a later performance.  Size is 9.2 x 6.4 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian composer (1795-1870) mostly of operas, Mercadante was very famous in his time and was important in the development of opera. Autograph letter signed, in Italian (sold untranslated), dated in Naples in 1861. One page, size is 5.25 x 8.25 inches, the addressee is written on verso by Mercadante, folds, in very good condition.

French composer (1853-1929), who was also an important conductor and impresario. Autograph letter signed, written in Paris to the legendary Italian tenor Enrico Caruso, composed in French, sold with an English translation. Letter is on 2 pages of a folded four page document, item size is 5.25 x 7 inches. Rare vintage item in excellent condition!

French composer and teacher (1892-1974), one of the most prolific and influential modernist composers of the 20th century. Autograph letter signed by him, recommending someone, with his address as letterhead, dated in Aix en Provence, December 1939. In French, sold untranslated. Size is 8.2 x 10.5 inches, has folds, in very good condition. ALSO INCLUDED is a half-tone photo of the composer at work, 4.75 x 7 inches, perfect to frame with this autograph letter if desired.

Italian composer (1875-1952), well-known for his opera L'Amore dei Tre Re (The Love of the Three Kings), which is part of the standard repertoire.  Autograph music quote on a postcard signed by him and dated in 1916, with 11 bars of music from an aria from his famous opera "L'Amore dei Tre Re" (1913), inscribed.  Size is 5.4 x 3.5 inches, creases on three corners, otherwise in very good condition.

Spanish composer (1891-1982) and also conductor, theatrical impresario, known for his zarzuelas and works for guitar.  Small paper clip with few notes and his signature.  Size is 4.2 x 5.6 inches, fold, mounting traces on verso, in good condition.

Italian composer of opera and film music (1885-1951), Mulé created 7 operas and was in his time well-connected with the fascist regime. Signed score of his 4th opera, "Dafni" (1928), first edition, version for piano and voice, inscribed to Canadian pianist and teacher Helen Paxton, dated in Roma, 1928. Autograph is on the full title page. A total of 248 numbered pages, original covers, published by Ricordi, Milano, 1928. Size is 8 x 10.8 inches, first 2 pages are loose, some wear and paper loss on corners, in good condition. Rare!

Cuban-born Spanish composer (1879-1949), who studied in Paris under Moritz Moszkowski. Autograph letter in French (sold untranslated) to Canadian singer Eva Gauthier about personal matters, no date (postal markings indicate Paris, April 16, 1928). Size is 5.1 x 6.9 inches, 1 page, in excellent condition. ALSO INCLUDED is an album page signed by him with a short sentiment, and other signature clips attached; signed on verso by pianist Jan Smeterlin.

German-born French composer, cellist, and impresario (1819-1880), today largely remembered for his operettas. Autograph note in French (sold untranslated) signed by him (no date), with the letterhead of Theatre La Gaité.  Size is 4.9 x 8 inches, 1 page, central fold, in excellent condition. Spanish composer (1889-1960) and also a pianist.  Lengthy Autograph music quote with 11 bars of his famous song "Princesita", signed, inscribed, and dated by him in 1944.  Size is 9.1 x 3.75 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian composer (1771-1839) of Austrian descent, known for his operas and oratorios. Document in French containing the fees paid to singers and musicians for a concert, signed by Paer as Director of Chamber Music at the Theatre of the Emperor, dated 1813.  Size is 8.3 x 12.75 inches, 1 page, central fold, in excellent condition.

American composer (1839-1906), probably the first American composer to achieve fame for his large orchestral music. Autograph music quote on a clip of paper with 4 bars from an unknown piece signed by him.  Size is 5.25 x 2.4 inches, mounting traces on verso, otherwise in very good condition.

English composer and harpist (1808-1849) who died young, created many pieces for the harp and was labeled by Berlioz the "Liszt of the harp". Autograph music quote signed, dated in Vienna, where he lived, in 1845, from an unidentified piece with a short inscription in verse ("There be none of Beauty´s daughters, with a magic little thee, and like music on the waters, is they sweet voice to me"). Size is 8.25 x 5 inches, in excellent condition. Very rare!

American author (1791-1852), poet, and actor, best remembered for his song "Home! Sweet home!" (1822).  Autograph letter signed by him to one of his friends, no year indicated. Size is 7.2 x 9.1 inches, 1 written page, loss of paper over the top left corner, otherwise in excellent condition.

Polish composer and conductor (b.1933), creator of a vast output, he is today Poland´s most famous living composer.  Autograph music quote on an album page signed and dated by him in 1969 with additional signature of the great German soprano Elisabeth Schwarzkopf on verso.  Size is 4.5 x 5 inches, in excellent condition. 

Italian composer (1815-1855), student of Mercadante. Autograph letter signed, dated in Milan in 1845, in Italian (sold with translation). Petrali comments about Verdi’s “I Due Foscari”, saying it is inferior to others. Three pages, sized 7.9 x 9.5 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian opera composer (1813-1877) who created half a dozen operas. Very long autograph music quote with music for piano signed and inscribed by the composer, dated on verso in 1853.  Size is 9.5 x 6.3 inches, some rust on edges, ink is on the light side, otherwise in very good condition.

Two autograph musical quotes signed on a single 8 x 8.5 inch album page from both Alfredo Piatti (full name "Carlos Alfredo Piatti"), Italian cellist, teacher and composer (1822-1901), dated in 1880, and Charles Halle - Anglo-German pianist,  conductor, and founder of The Hallé Orchestra in 1858 (1819-1895), dated in 1884. Rare vintage item in excellent condition!

French composer (1828-1892), creator of around 20 opera-comiques for which he wrote or participated in the librettos. Signed front cover of a score for his opera Don Pedre (full title "Le Roi Don Pedre", premiered in 1857), inscribed and dated by him in 1862. This is not the full score but only the title page. Also signed below by the person who received this page, a certain Mademoiselle Bousquet, stamped in blue ink by editor Colombier, Paris.  Size is 7.1 x 10.6 inches, scattered rust stains, some cracks and a small loss of paper over the top right, otherwise in good condition. Very rare.

French composer (1899-1963) and pianist, whose compositions include songs, solo piano works, chamber music, choral pieces, operas, ballets, and orchestral concert music.  Autograph letter in French (untranslated) signed by him, no year indicated, to the French pianist Alfred Cortot. Each page's size is 5.25 x 8.2 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet (front and back), central fold, in excellent condition.

Autograph note on a regular postcard signed by Puccini and addressed to Italian conductor Piero Coppola (1888-1971) mailed in early the 1910s, sending a short greeting. Size is 5.4 x 3.7 inches, storage hole, in good condition.

Italian opera composer (1858-1924), the greatest creator of verismo for over 30 years until his death from cancer. Autograph note in Italian written on the back of a regular postcard depicting "Villino Puccini" signed by the composer, addressed to the Italian composer and conductor Teofilo De Angelis in August 1908. Size is 5.6 x 3.5 inches, some stains over the picture side, some creases, in overall very good condition.

His signature cut (probably from a letter or document) and matted with a half-tone photograph of him.  Signature cut is 2.8 x 1.1 inches (visible window size), photograph is 3.5 x 4.5 inches (visible window size), for a total size of 7 x 10 inches, in very good condition.

British composer (1877-1953), known particularly for his art songs, which number over a hundred, often set music to text by William Shakespeare. Greeting card with a 4-bar autograph music quote from an unknown piece signed by the composer as "Roger" with a short sentiment (his complete last name is written in pencil under his signature).  The card has a printed greeting on the right with a pencil marking over the upper-right corner.   Open size is 6.7 x 4.3 inches, some wear, folds, in overall good condition.

French composer and conductor (1873-1949), best known for his vocal and opera works, including his opera Marouf (1914). Beautiful autograph of Rabaud signed by the painter Claude Bils (1884-1968) mounted on black cardboard matted together with his visiting card with some autograph lines and Rabaud's signature. Total is 7.2 x 11 inches, in very good condition.

French composer and conductor (1873-1949), best known for his vocal and opera works, including his opera Marouf (1914). Lot of five autograph letters in French (untranslated) signed by him (one typed), dated between 1922 and 1946 by the French composer. Letters are addressed to several official figures, the typed letter is addressed to the librettist Albert Willemetz (1887-1964), to the baritone André Baugé (1893-1966), recommending pupils and other music matters. We report an extract of the letter to Baugé, concerning Rabaud’s opera Mârouf, savetier du Caire (1914): “…j’aurais vraiment bien mauvaise grâce à refuser le concours d’un artiste de votre talent pour interpréter Mârouf. Et je vous donne le plus volontiers du monde l’autorisation que vous voulez bien me demander…”.  SOLD TOGETHER, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.

French virtuoso pianist (1818-1862), composer, and teacher. Lot of four autograph letters in French (untranslated) signed by him, only one is dated 1862. Letters are addressed to friends, to the music publisher Adolphe Catelin (1837-1866) and to the secretary of the Conservatoire Impériale Alfred de Beauchesne (1803-1876). We report two extracts as a sample: “….Notre illustrissime la Signora Térésa Miliano, vient lundi en compagnie de quelques amis passer la soirée chez moi…”; “Quoi de neuf mon cher Beauchesne, l’illustre Maître a-t-il prononcé et mon désir est-il satisfait?…”.  SOLD TOGETHER, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.  

French composer (1807-1880) who wrote mostly chamber music. 8-bar autograph music quote from his "Chanson de Barberine" on a music sheet signed by him. Size is 8.4 x 5.3 inches, central fold, in excellent condition.

Italian composer and priest (1883-1954), who represented the new direction taken by Italian church music in the twentieth century. Autograph music quote with 3 bars from his opera "Cecilia" (1934) signed and dated by him in Rio (Brazil) - illegible date.  On verso there is a signature by the famous American contralto Marian Anderson.  Size is 8.5 x 5.5 inches, central fold, minor rust on edges, otherwise in very good condition.

"Salammbo", vocal and piano score of the opera in 5 acts, Choudens Fils, Paris, attached with a short autograph letter signed by the French composer. Letter is written in French, sold untranslated, size is 4 x 6.25 inches. Vocal score is in good condition, binding is in only fair condition, no rust, 7.75 x 10.75 inches, 360 pages.
