French violinist and teacher (1850?-1925?). Set of two autograph items: one signed autograph letter and a signed autograph note on a card, no date. Items concern upcoming musical engagements, one letter is addressed to the poet Charles Grandmougin (1850-1930).  SOLD TOGETHER, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.

French violinist (1860-1900), composer, and teacher, a pupil of Henri Vieuxtemps. Set of four short autograph notes signed by her. All the letters are dated in Paris, 1899, and related to artistic matters concerning the work of his brother Benjamin Godard (1849-1895). Different lengths, sizes and conditions, in overall very good condition (see scans provided). SOLD TOGETHER, NOT SOLD SEPARATELY.

English violinist (1821-1895) and violist, who worked in London and later in his life in San Francisco, CA, USA, as a teacher, and authored a book on violin playing. Beautifully colorized carte-de-visite (CDV) signed by him, dated in Boston, 1872; photo by E.S. Dunshee, Boston.  Size is 2.5 x 3.8 inches, trimmed at the top from a larger size, some spotted stains, otherwise in good condition.

American violinist (1897-1948) and founder of the Gordon String Quartet.  Signed photograph with a portrait drawing of him, inscribed and dated in Chicago, 1927.  Size is 7.9 x 10 inches, in excellent condition.

Austrian cellist (1855-1931) and brother of composer Alfred Grunfeld. Autograph note signed and dated in 1905, written in German (sold untranslated). Note is on a postcard with a small photo of him and his ink stamp. Size is 5.6 x 3.6 inches, in excellent condition.

Italian cellist (1880-1952) and conductor. Half-tone photograph (a page from a program for a performance of Mussorgsky's "Boris Godunov" in 1940 signed and inscribed by Guarnieri with a short sentiment. Size is 6.25 x 9.2 inches, minor damage over the bottom, in overall good condition.  

Italian cellist (1880-1952) and conductor.  Signed photograph, inscribed by him dated in Bologna in 1926.  Photo size is 6.5 x 7.5 inches, mounted on cardboard (signature is on the cardboard directly beneath the photo), total item size is 9.75 x 14 inches, with some creases at the bottom corners of the cardboard, otherwise in good condition.

Italian cellist (1880-1952) and conductor. Photo postcard signed and inscribed by him dated in Rome, Nov. 11, 1937.  Size is 5.5 x 3.5 inches, with light foxings, and foldings due to framing at the angles, otherwise in good condition.

Polish British violinist (1928-2020), very important concert soloist performer and teacher. Signed card, attached with a half-tone photo. Total size is 5.1 x 7.25 inches, in excellent condition.

Austrian string quartet founded in 1981. Photo signed by all members of the quartet, including Lukas, Veronika, Angelika and Clemens Hagen. Stamped on verso by photographer Schaffler, Salzburg. Size is 5 x 7 inches, in excellent condition.

Austrian conductor and cellist (1929-2016), known for his historically informed performances, specialized in music of the Baroque period. Rare black-and-white photograph signed by him, shown early in his career as a Cellist in the orchestra. Size is 6 x 4 inches, in excellent condition.

American cellist (1944-2020), known for the "penetrating richness" of his sound; performed internationally as a recitalist, chamber musician, and soloist. Page from a program signed by him. Size is 7 x 9.4 inches, in excellent condition.

American violinist and conductor (1925-2011). Signed photo, inscribed with a long sentiment and dated in 1979. Size is 10 x 8 inches, minor damage over top border, otherwise in excellent condition.

French cellist (1878-1957) and conductor. Autograph note signed by him as “Hasselmans" and inscribed to the Catalan violinist Joaquin Mestres (member of the Pau Casals Orchestra), dated 1933. Size is 5.1 x 7.5 inches, 1 page, overall rust tone, otherwise in excellent condition.

German violinist (1844-1935), a pupil of Joseph Joachim. Black-and-white photo postcard signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment dated in Berlin 1911; blind-stamped on the front by photographer Marx (Frankfurt). Size is 3.25 x 5.25 inches, minor creases, pinholes and silvering in all borders, otherwise in very good condition.

Hungarian violinist, her career developed mostly in Holland - signed photo, posing with her violin, dated in 1947. Size is 9.25 x 6.75 inches, in excellent condition.

Hungarian violinist (1881-1944) and disciple of Hubay. Autograph music quote with two bars from a Mozart piece, signed by him and dated in 1903. Music quote is on an album page attached to a larger piece of cardboard, total size of 6.25 x 6.9 inches, in very good condition.

Lithuanian-born American violinist (1901-1987), a superstar performer for decades, Heifetz focused on teaching after a long, highly successful career as performer.  Signature cut on 1.5 x 5 inch card, bold and clear handwriting and signature, dated in 1941, in excellent condition!

German-American cellist and conductor (1864-1945), was also the director of the New York College of Music and of several German singing societies. Signed postcard photograph of him, inscribed and dated in New York in 1911. Size is 3.5 x 5.5 inches, very slight paper loss on edges and mounting traces in verso, otherwise in excellent condition. 

German violinist (1828-1907) and composer, student of Ferdinand David. Autograph letter signed by him, written in French (sold untranslated), 1 page. Size is 5.25 x 8.25 inches, folds, in very good condition.

American violinist and teacher (1914-2010), co-founder of the Juilliard String Quartet. Fine black-and-white promo photograph signed by him. Size is 8 x 10.1 inches, in excellent condition.

American violinist (1892-1918), a prodigious talent who died at age 26 in WWI, yet left some recordings. After his successful debut at Carnegie Hall in 1915, Hochstein had a short but very successful career on tour. Very rare autograph, large photo also signed by photographer on the mat (probably Isidore York, New York), dated by Hochstein in Rochester, 1912, with a short sentiment.  Size is 9.5 x 14.2 inches, loss of paper on the lower right corner, and minor cracks, otherwise in excellent condition. Very rare.

German cellist (1907-1996), who played internationally as a soloist, and was well-known as a chamber musician. Card signed by him with a short sentiment in German, dated in 1940, attached with a photograph of him.  Size is 6.9 x 5.75 inches, in excellent condition.

American cellist (b.1956), still an active recording artist for BMG, Sony, and EMI; and also master in residence for cello at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels. A beautiful black-and-white photograph from his younger years, signed and inscribed by him with a short sentiment dated 1987 with a golden felt tip pen. Size is 7.9 x 9.9 inches, in excellent condition.

Polish violinist (1882-1947), known for his individualistic interpretations and praised for his tone color, expressiveness, and flexibility. Very fine autograph letter in German signed by him, dated July 14, 1917, to composer Eugen d’Albert, concerning the organization of a tour of concerts. Size is 5.6 x 8.9 inches, 4 written pages, with letterhead, storage holes, creases, some smudges, folds, in overall very good condition. Partial translation: “… Based on your letter of June 9, which I received yesterday, I had a conversation today with the concert director Wolff-Sachs to include the 3 Polish concerts in the sonata tour. It turned out that this is hardly feasible if you do not give us 2 days in February for the 2 Munich sonata evenings, which Sachs wants to give within the 10 concerts he has taken over. I want to spare you with the individual dates and hall commissions in this matter and share only the result. Provided that it will be possible for you to schedule the 2 Munich Sonata evenings earlier, I propose the following data plan to you…”.

Size is 5.3 x 3.4 inches, in excellent condition. 1-page program for a performance in Switzerland, in 1939, signed by him, under the baton of Fritz Busch. Size is 8.2 x 11.6 inches, holes, cracks, in overall goo condition. ALSO INCLUDED is his unsigned photo postcard. Size is 3.3 x 5.3 inches, in excellent condition.

Also known as I Musici di Roma, is an Italian chamber orchestra ensemble founded in 1951 which toured extensively worldwide. Nice photograph of the ensemble in performance at a church, signed at the bottom by 8 of it´s members. Dated on verso in 1977, size is 7 x 5 inches, in excellent condition.
